The Interval at Fort Mason

The Time Helix has been recognized by The Long Now Foundation.

The team at Helixaeon is honored by this recognition as the Long Now Foundation is the leading global institution that initiates and supports an open and timely discussion of the necessity for long-term thinking.

Dan Richardson, Co-Founder and CEO of Helix, has been named a Long Now Research Fellow. Dan presented the Time Helix model to Stewart Brand, Co-Founder and President, and Zander Rose, CEO of the Long Now. Stuart shared many thoughtful insights and Zander stated that Dan’s, “...work on visualizing time is by far the best effort I have seen.”

Helixaeon and the Long Now share a sense of perspective and purpose about our relationship with Time. Stewart Brand argues that, "Civilization is revving itself into a pathologically short attention span. The trend might be coming from the acceleration of technology, the short-horizon perspective of market-driven economics, the next-election perspective of democracies, or the distractions of personal multi-tasking. All are on the increase. Some sort of balancing corrective to the short-sightedness is needed-some mechanism or myth which encourages the long view and the taking of long-term responsibility, where 'long-term' is measured at least in centuries.” You can learn more about The Long Now here.

Our focus at Helixaeon Inc is to develop broadly distributed tools that bring this long-term perspective into everyday life. With this expanded perspective, our hope is to enable people to think, plan, and act for the long term in ways that were not possible before. We are excited about working in partnership with the Long Now to help create a meaningful relationship to time.
